The key difference in a sentence

Pipedrive focuses on one question: “How do I move my deals through the pipeline faster?”

HubSpot asks a broader question: “How do I connect marketing, sales, and service so that a lead can be converted into a customer?” This explains almost every other difference between the two systems.

Where Pipedrive Excels

You don’t have to downplay Pipedrive to appreciate HubSpot. Pipedrive excels exactly at what it was built to do:

Up and running quickly. A sales team is productive in days, not weeks. Minimal configuration, clear visual pipeline.

Affordable entry point. The price per user is transparent and very attractive at the lower end of the range—especially for small teams.

No unnecessary clutter. If you just want to manage deals, you won't be bogged down by marketing and service modules you don't need.

Where Pipedrive Reaches Its Limits

The typical growing pains we see time and again with companies switching platforms:

Marketing and sales are drifting apart. As soon as you need true lead nurturing, lead scoring, or multi-stage campaigns, the Campaigns add-on is no longer enough. You end up piecing together external tools to make up for it.

Reporting becomes a limiting factor. Cross-channel attribution (“Which channel actually drives revenue?”) is difficult to track in a pure sales CRM.

The tool stack is getting out of hand. Zapier, a separate email tool, a reporting tool. Each one has to be paid for, maintained, and synced individually. These are exactly the kinds of tools that HubSpot often eliminates.

Service is left out. If you want to systematize customer communication and tickets, Pipedrive lacks the necessary component.

A Look at the Pricing Model.

How much does it cost?

Pipedrive

Pipedrive charges per user per month based on a tiered pricing structure. This is easy to calculate and affordable for new users. You can meet your marketing, reporting, or automation needs using add-ons or external tools—which incur additional costs.

HubSpot

HubSpot starts with a free CRM and you only pay when you add Hubs and premium features. Sales and Service are billed per seat, while the Marketing Hub is billed additionally based on the number of contacts. Depending on the feature set, you can choose from Starter, Professional, or Enterprise packages and create customized bundles from the Hubs you need.

Final Price

What really determines your total cost of ownership (TCO) isn’t just the monthly license fee, but rather what you no longer need: separate email and reporting tools, automation subscriptions, and duplicate data maintenance. In many cases, the higher platform price is offset by the tools you no longer need and the hours of work saved. Which option is more cost-effective for you depends on your specific setup.

Who is each option best suited for?

Pipedrive is a good fit if you…

have a small team focused solely on sales,

above all, you need a streamlined visual pipeline,

you don't need integrated marketing/service,

You're looking for the most affordable way to get started and are deliberately keeping additional tools separate.

Pipedrive Migration and HubSpot Implementation

Frequently Asked Questions About Migrating from Pipedrive to HubSpot

When is it worth switching from Pipedrive to HubSpot?

It’s rarely worth making the switch just for a single feature, but rather when several factors come together: Marketing and Sales are working in silos, and you want to bring them together. Your reporting no longer answers the important questions. Your tool stack has become expensive and prone to errors. Or it’s finally time to systematize your customer service.

What is the difference between Pipedrive and HubSpot?

Pipedrive is a specialized sales CRM focused on visual pipeline management. HubSpot is an integrated platform that brings together marketing, sales, customer service, and a website on a single data model. Pipedrive is more streamlined, while HubSpot offers a broader range of features.

Is HubSpot better than Pipedrive?

It depends on your team. For small, sales-only teams, Pipedrive is often the more streamlined and affordable choice. Once marketing, sales, and customer service need to be integrated, HubSpot really shines.

Does Pipedrive have a free version?

No. Pipedrive only offers a 14-day trial; there is no permanently free plan. HubSpot offers a permanently free CRM with limits on certain features.

Is HubSpot more expensive than Pipedrive?

In terms of full functionality, the answer is usually yes, but HubSpot starts out free, and external tools (email, reporting, automation) are often no longer needed, which puts the total cost into perspective. The license price per user alone says little about the actual costs.

Is it possible to migrate from Pipedrive to HubSpot?

Yes. Contacts, companies, deals, and activities can be transferred, including their history and pipeline assignments. We explain how to perform a smooth migration on our Pipedrive Migration page.
